[*] Existing Graphic Designers Work

Evan Eckard as previously mentioned, creates a lot of work that I enjoy to look at. If I was to use some of the work he creates to inspire me, and I had the time and skill. I would of created a board design similar to this image:

I would of put the images together into a collage and made a sticker board design, similar to this:

deck-designs deck-20-digitaloatmeal
deck-designs deck-16-rodrigodudigo
deck-designs deck-4-digitaloatmeal
deck-designs deck-2-idv

These are all very impressive pieces of work. The artists aren't clear however I know the homer board was created by Digital Oatmeal.

[*] Existing Artist's Website Research

We had to research into existing websites of Creative Media Professionals. The first website I researched was the Graphic Designer Evan Eckard. His website is very professional and also very eye-catching. The initial object that your attention is drawn to is a sticker which is very bold and looks as if it is coming out of the page. The sticker is the centre of attention and is full of bright colours, these colours are then represented on the text found next to it. This is something I would like to incorporate on my website design as I want something in the centre that will draw the potential clients attention.

Further down the page is a selection of different categories and it broadcasts all genre's of products he makes. This is cool as it allows the viewer to see what is available before doing too much research around the website, it is also direct and doesn't require the viewer to scout around the website.

The website I found is the website of Freelance Graphic Designer Lee Mason. His website goes for a very minimalist design however the first thing I would change is the standing image, I would of placed one design and placed text next to it outlining it. I would also remove the background to the image as it makes it look out of place, as the website is white and the grey corners makes the image feel out of place and not as bold.

Further down, similar to Evan Eckard's website it details what he does although in this case writes a little bit of information regarding each one. This is good and something I would like to incorporate onto my website. Another thing I would change is the "Neat's Rice Crackers Branding" button would be moved central to the above image or if he place one image instead of the 4 then below the text. I also like the brands he's designed for theme of the greyed out logo's.

The page for AttitudeDesign which is a Nottingham based page. It has a very nice and simplistic opening page which has a gif behind the text of clouds moving. This is very creative and works well with the rest of their website. It also fits very nicely into the next

As you go down it shows a back image of Nottingham and a inspirational and simplistic text with a logo found next to it. The style of this website is very nice and unique as not many are like this. What is found after this is a collection of work they have done including brands such as Boots.
The collection of brands fit well into the design as they are equally spread and incorporates big and small brands. A picture includes Pelé's brother working at boots. The images at the bottom I wish to use on my front page however, my own images.
Following the images it tells you a bit of information about the company to allow the customer to get to know the company and recognise them before going in so they feel slightly more comfortable than they would talking to complete strangers.

[*] Clothing Development

The way I created my t-shirts are to be displayed below:

First of all I took a picture of a plain white t-shirt found in my wardrobe (pictured below)

Then I went onto Photoshop and played with the lightness as the lighting available was not perfect.

From there I went onto the rectangle shape tool and warped it so it curved slightly and stroked the rectangle

I then used the text tool and warped it, and moved onto the rectangle.

[*] Website Development

To begin the website development, I began changing the main page. I first of all changed the logo in the top right of my website (as seen here):

My Design

Original

From there I then moved down the page slightly to change the text against the background. At the time of taking the pictures the background was still default however is changed now.

Original

The reason behind my caption is because it makes the reader feel like this is the website for them and makes them look around it.

Moving down the page, I changed the contact us and mailing list page and got the mailing list to work however the page it sends is unrelivent however if I had more time then I would of customized that.

Next, I moved onto the store page.

I started with the shipping prices which was simple enough.

Then I started adding my items onto the store,

The way I got the items into the certain sections was through the "Category" sections.

As you notice in the above image, the SKTRBOARDS Official Team Deck has a discount applied onto it. This is how I did it:

[*] Powerpoint Presentation

These were my templates that I chose from as I felt they were the most suited to what my brief was.
I used the one in the top right because I like the layout and darkness/forest look.

For this I used the gradient tool to create the background of the purple/black. The I used the pentool and paintbucket tool to achieve the lines on the top and bottom of the board as well as the filled in triangles. For the stars and clouds I used the 'Custom Shape Tool' found on photoshop under the Rectangle Tool. The moon is pentooled based on the following image:

The planet in the middle is based of the image found next to it. I used the lasso tool to do the countries on a separate layer to the circle which was made by using the Circle Shape Tool. I used a colour overlay in blending options to make it black and used the white colour overlay on the countries. I considered making the sea blue however I didn't want to because of the colour range on my skateboard is black/white/purple and I felt that blue wouldn't suit it.

The way I made this skateboard was complicated. To begin with I used a picture of a skateboard that I took in Element just outside of college. Then I used the Pen Tool to  make the base design (top left).
Secondly, I used the blending options and used a variety of  gradients and patterns. I then used the text tool to add the menimist text. and create a bold looking text that suited it.

For this it was very simple. I used the stroke tool and put a pattern over the board. I then added text ontop of that.

For this t-shirt design I took a picture of a t-shirt that is plain white on the hangar. I then removed the background however it removed the metal hook so if I had more time I would try to keep it there. I used the rectangle tool and created a rectangle. I then used the stroke effect on it. Once it was stroked I used the warp tool and curved my rectangle slightly. Once that was done I used the text tool and warped the text slightly to curve it identically to the rectangle.

For my peer feedback I agree with Kai on the some lack detail however I didn't have that much time so if I had more time then I would of created more detailed skateboards.

However I used no templates which Leah said I did. All processes are explained above.

[*] Logo Development

I created a selection of mock-ups when I am creating my logo. I took most of my inspiration from my logo research however I feel that some are too similar so will change aspects on Photoshop.

[*] Logo Research

For my company and website, I will need a logo therefore I looked into existing logo's that company's are using for inspiration. Here they are:

Route One | Skate Clothing | Skate Shoes | Skateboards | Skate Accessories
This logo is very simplistic however works well on their website.
I might take the idea of adding an establishment date to my logo.

The Black Sheep Skate Store
I love this logo because it shows off their brand name but it's called
"Black Sheep" with a picture of a sheep in the middle, however clearly it cannot be a black sheep since you wouldn't see it. It reminds me of the stone island badge slightly.
If I was to change this logo I would put an establishment date in between two stars.
Penny Skatebaords
Similarly, I also love this logo. The reason is because how the text incorporates with the line.
The y tail is the line and makes it into a barrier. The logo is very creative.
